Jeff Koch grew up near the Pacific Ocean in Orange County, CA. He attended a private school for much of his young life where he grew passionate about performing and acting. Around this time, in order to cope with his personal image issues, he developed a strong sense of humor as a bit of a defense mechanism. This lead him into managing an improv troupe throughout high school before moving to Los Angeles to attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Unhappy with the program, he quit early on and started auditioning on his own. He landed a few small parts; mostly things like ‘High Five Guy,’ or ‘Gamer Nerd 3,’ but also a three episode ‘arc’ on The Young and the Restless. After not getting a ton of work, he moved back to Orange County. A few years passed by, and he felt his creativity begin to wane.

One day, after a series of vastly unfortunate events, he woke up and made the decision to return to Los Angeles. He found his way onto various stages in the city, performing improv at UCB, Improv Olympic, and Second City; he fell in love with music, building confidence in singing and performing on the piano; he wrote, acted, and produced a number of web series. Somehow, in the midst of this, he met the right girl.

A year into their relationship, she made the decision to move to Prague to write and teach English. He spent the first year coming and going, back and forth from LA to Prague. Toward the end of the first year, he found a creative outlet with the theater group Blood, Love, and Rhetoric.

Jeff wound up performing improv with them frequently. He and his girlfriend knew that they wanted to spend at least another year in Prague. After officially making the move, he has performed in a number of plays with BLR and the Prague Shakespeare Company, and recently shot a show for ABC called Spark. He can be found nearly every week at Malostranské Beseda doing an improv show. Most recently, he co-directed and acted in Drunk Hamlet with many of his good friends. He will continue embracing the uniquely addictive and invigorating opportunities found here in Prague alone.

“Prague’s incredible community of talented expats has fundamentally changed my direction in life; I am more myself here than anywhere else I have ever been, and I certainly don’t plan on leaving in the foreseeable future. I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
